A total of 55,167 people in Kerala have been infected with HIV / AIDS, according to the Kerala State aid control Society (KSACS).
Handling of the report here, said Health Secretary Manoj Joshi that from October 2009 a total of 11,024 HIV-positive people had registered with antiretroviral therapy (ART) centers operated by KSACS.
'Of these 4016 people undergoing ART treatment, and 950 people are passed away.
HIV prevalence in the general population is 0.26 percent, lower than the national average of 0.34 percent, "said Joshi.

At 30 June last year, Palakkad district had the largest number of victims (1650) followed by Trissur (1449) and Thiruvananthapuram (1267), while Wayanad had the lowest number of cases-142
